Rootooba is proud to become the new National Technical Working Group (NTWG) Host for GLOBALG.A.P. in Kenya — a big step forward in our mission to promote safe, sustainable, and fair farming.
GLOBALG.A.P. is an internationally respected set of farming standards that cover food safety, worker welfare, and care for the environment. Our role is to help make these standards work for Kenya by leading the process of creating National Interpretation Guidelines (NIGs). These guidelines will adapt global requirements to fit our local laws, climate, crops, and farming realities.
As NTWG Host, Rootooba will bring together everyone who plays a role in Kenya’s fresh produce sector — from smallholder and commercial farmers to exporters, regulators, certification bodies, and audit firms. This inclusive approach ensures the standards are practical, fair, and supported by those who will apply them.
For farmers, this means clear and locally relevant rules that make it easier to follow good agricultural practices, improve yields, and maintain access to high-value markets. For audit firms and certification bodies, it provides a consistent, agreed framework to guide assessments. For regulators, it ensures alignment between Kenyan laws and international standards, making compliance simpler and more transparent.
Rootooba will organize regular working group meetings, capture feedback from all stakeholders, and ensure it shapes the guidelines. By creating a space for open dialogue and shared problem-solving, we’ll help Kenya’s agriculture stay competitive, sustainable, and trusted at home and abroad.
This role builds on our long-standing commitment to policy advocacy, capacity building, and strong partnerships. Together with GLOBALG.A.P. and the NTWG community, we’re ready to strengthen Kenya’s leadership in responsible, high-quality food production.
